Removed my speedo cable and trying to fit a new one to solve the issue of bouncy speed readings.

The new speedo cable (sold as a one size for 110) doesn't fit into the transfer box. It's too big. Possibly the old one was filed down to fit, or maybe there is another type of cable for early 110s?

Mine is 1985.

Could remove the fitting inside the transfer box as it's not hard to do, and then get a new one (hopefully the right size), but want to make sure I've got the right cable first.

Maybe I'm the only one - but the issue has been solved!

I was nieve to think that when you buy a part it should fit - end of.

I prised out the gear and socket for the end of the speedo cable that goes into the transmission box and carefully filed down the two sides of the square cable. Then slotted about 3mm of cable into the socket, then filed again. A bit more in, a bit more filing and I ended up getting it in, and getting a tight fit.

It was a brit part cable - and I'm guessing just not really made to scratch.

If anyone is in the same place, be careful on your filing. The cable I was replacing makes me think it was filed to a rounded shape which slips in the socket - hence the dancing speedo.
