speedo bulbs

Took the instrument gubbins off today to find out why none of me instruments were lit up, any how all the bulb holders had melted an the bulbs blown. So does anyone know what wattage the proper bulbs should be.

I think theyre 1.5w but some may be 3w.

My wire to them all had melted through too - the red n white one - replaced wire and probably fit leds instead.

It int the wire that melted it was the actual plaggy bulb holders cos the bulbs got too hot.

Its the little 1.5 watt ones.

10mm LED's with little plastic holders, which can be bought in an exciting range of colours from Electronic components distributor. Electronic equipment and electrical components from Rapid work well - although don't use 330ohm resistors, as that makes them 2 dim. Dnt put them without resistors either - they'll blow up. Give me a day or 2, and when I can see my speedo again i will tell you the right value that I have found for the LED's that are in my dash instead of those poxy lightbulbs!

I am in the middle of making Luexon LED fittings for my 90 brakes/tails/sidelights, ultrawhite 1W each!

So have you gotta make the electrical gubbins up yerself then. I've med some ally bulb holders an loctited them in so I reckon I can use any wattage bulb they sell at my local autothing shop.

Leccy gubbins is basically soldering a resistor to the LED, but yeah your approach would work... I had a handful of the old light bulbs too which i was going to check the wattage on, but i can't find them at this moment in time...

Also, I thought I had worked it out right... (That calculator confirms that i can do maths!) Perhaps the shrouds that I am using are too deep, and are blocking too much light out... Ill be back!!!

Any how Craddocks are 2W, the ones I got from my local car shop are 5W an get so hot they melt an totally fook the plastic bulb holder, an fer them wot cant make new ally bulb holders this could mean yer speedo or wotever is fooked. Juss thought I'd share that with you all.
