Speedo Angle Drive

My speedo has stopped working on my 87 RRC and after checking I found my angle drive in bits. I do have another speedo unit 88 RRC with a slightly different angle drive on it. Can I just swap out the busted angle drive for this one, or do they have to be the same type?
