Just fitted new plugs to the Disco (3.9i), alot smoother now!.

Quick question for the V8 gurus out there. What plug would you
recommend??.

The old ones were NGK BPR6E's and i was given BPR5ES's. What does the
'S' mean?.

Standard 2.5mm electrode.

Personally I'd be more concerned why they've given you a warmer plug.

The old plugs had a bit of a groove in the electrode as well. New ones
don't.

Should i be worried coz of the warmer plug or not(engine done 100,00
ish miles)?. Off to North Wales in it towing a canoe trailer in a
weeks time so need to know it aint gonna go bang. What plugs sholud be
fitted?.

Couldn't tell you the "correct" heat range you should be looking at but a
quick search on google pulled a few different part numbers so they are not
all the same.
From the Rimmer Bros website :-
Spark Plug;
Rover P6 (12.7mm reach) - (8) - GSP4376
Rover SD1 (19mm reach)
Carb Engines
1976 - 1982 - (8) - GSP4382
1982 Onwards - (8) - GSP4362
Efi Engines - (8) - GSP6462
Triumph TR8 - (8) - GSP4382
Range Rover
3.5 Litre
1970 - 1977 - (8) - GSP4376
1978 Onwards - (8) - GSP4362
3.9 Litre
9.35:1 cr Non Catalyst - (8) - GSP4362
8.13:1 cr Catalyst Engines - (8) - GSP4482
4.2 Litre - (8) - GSP6462

An old engine may be running hotter or cooler than intended. If the dealer
saw the old plugs he may have been able to tell from their condition and may
have supplied you correctly. If he didn't look though and just said "
These'll do, they're only one grade off the originals" then he should be
shot. I suppose you could run the new ones for a short time, say 200 miles,
and then check them.

mostly though the plug grade is not that critical.

although those numbers, as they stand, are meaningless to me... whose part
numbers are they?
