Disco 2 Snap ring lost in r380

So the latest problem.... Lost drive, gear selector felt weird so figured it must have been something with the selector yolk. I was right. The bush snapped and fell with the selector ball in the gearbox. I was able to retrieve the plastic bush and the selector ball but couldn't find the snap ring even though I tried to fish it up with a magnetic tip. I fixed it road side so did not invest in a long time trying to fish it out .... Should i be worried? Gearbox felt normal but not sure if it might be picked up by the gears or block the oil passage, if it makes sense??

The snap ring that disappeared from ours hasn't been found despite 3 subsequent oil changes over 5 or 6 years. Still feels & sounds OK - lol

Thanks for the encouragement! I actually taken everything off again and tried to fish it out with a magnetic tip. Even tried to lure it with a big magnet , couldn't get it. At the end i had to give up
