Morning All.
1998 4.6HSE Automatic.
My gear selector is getting very un-precise. Sometimes the LED on the gate shows a gear, but the gear box hasn't selected it. A jiggle, or a joggle corrects this.
Also, I don't have to press the gear stick button (or foot brake) to get it out of P or to select any gear. I thought you had to use the button every time except when going from D to 3?
Anyway, I suspect the pawl pin (is that the right word) is either gummed up, broken off, or mis-adjusted.
My question is, can I clean and re-adjust, or am I better off buying a new gear selector assembly?
It still drives fine, but I'd like to mend it because of my OCD!
