Hello all. I have a freelander t d4 that is reluctant to go into reverse. As I look at the gear quadrant the rocking yolk is moving on the shaft and I’ve been told the roll pin will need replacing. ? My question is about the alignment of the yolk to the the shaft to remove the pin. Sorry if I’ve used the wrong terms for the parts I’m not a mechanic. Regards

Hi,

Manual car ?

According to the manual the car need to be still, push the clutch pedal all way down, wait a little and then put the reverse. If you can’t get it to reverse, you certainly have issue with clutch hydrolics.

Why I say that, because depending on the gearbox and the gear selector, you can put the reverse with only pushing stlitly the clutch pedal. And some people use to put reverse with a huge cracking sound …

The gear selector is floppy with the freelander.

Sorry no I don’t have a pic. The car was recently in for a new slave cylinder and when you look at the reservoir under the bulk head there is a slight weep of fluid. I thin they changed the item near the clutch lever.

New slave cylinder ? If the master look new yes, if the hydraulic flush was not well done you can have an issue, same if they put a budget master cylinder…
