Hi guys,

As part of my slowly unfolding restoration, I need to get all the sills completely replaced. Initially I was planning on going for the cheap outer sill option from YRM, but these ones from GDI on ebay caught my eye - they're more expensive, but look like they'd require less work:

Has anyone used the same or similar, and if so what are your opinions? I was also considering the box-section replacement option but with the MOT in Northern Ireland being somewhat stricter / more anal-retentive I'm concerned as to whether they'll pass through easily.

Also, my drivers side A-pillar is completely rotten, with holes appearing around the finicky recessed hinge bit - again, I was looking at trying to fab something up (please bear in mind that I'm a complete noob to this!) but found something from Froggat's / Easy-On on ebay:

RANGE ROVER CLASSIC DOOR POST PILLAR MTC6881 L/H | eBay

Again, if anyone has any opinion or experience with these or the area in question I'd be grateful :)

And just to show the condition of my A-pillar, a pretty (!) picture:

I did the sills on a couple of 4 door Classics many years ago and had similar issues with the mid- door pillar. I fabricated a pillar from plate which was very difficult. I'd go for the pre-made pillar unless you're really confident in your abilities and have the right metalwork kit. For the sills I've used pattern parts and patches, they are pretty straightforward. I did fit box sections once which were really simple and strengthened the body no end. I admire your bravery for taking on this amount of work but good to see someone keeping them going
