Side light - blows fuse

bit new to defenders and still learning a few things, signed up here months back but only said hi.

i have an issue where my near side, side lights are bowing fuses i have removed all bulbs but it still dose it as soon as i turn on the lights. it must be an wire that is broken but not sure where to start to look.

any advice please.

Must be a dead short in the live feed to blow with no bulb's. Try following the line back from the wing to the bulkhead, you may find a plug you can separate there to confirm or eliminate it. I have known the rear line to have problems after welding on the chassis because the cable runs inside and someone has not taken care. Running a new external line is simplest solution.

Maybe try with the dash light switch off, I have had loads of trouble with these recently.

thanks guys, i know the bulb holders are not britpart. ill have a look tonight and see if i can see anything but i suspect something is chafing but not too sure where after a quick look lastnight.
