Hello all. I'm looking for a little reassurance/advice on a possible purchase. Never had a Land Rover before but, we are on the look out for a new car and I have stumbled across an 08 Freelander TD4 GS 2.2, with 100k on the clock. It's stunning inside and out, with not a mark on it!!!! It's got FSH and has just had a serviced by the dealer. It's not a car I ever thought I could afford to buy, or run. However this just sneaks into our budget at £7000. We have a caravan, so the tow bar is a bonus.

My issues are the cost of running compared to other cars? I know it's £270 for the test. Also their reliability, I have heard some issues with them? Although you hear that with most cars. Also, £7000, I think it's a great buy? Is there anything I should look for? As I have said, it's immaculate! Well, apart from a little surface rust on the inner rear wing, although not noticeable at all due to it being the inner part(I was looking at one the other day, which was exactly the same)

Don't want much, do I?

Thanks in advance, Danny

Freelander 2 is a nice car. We have discussed this in the Freelander forum, and there's a thread currently running.
Main issue at 100k is the rear diff. Check to see if it's had any work done on this.
If your still unsure get a car inspection done.
And Welcome.
Mike

To be honest if you were me .. I would spend a few hours reading the forum and use that great thing called Google, don't shy away from long threads as you will pick up the information you want to evaluate whether it's for you.
Shiney is great, but remember shiney does not make a car go.

Look at the mpg and adjust by 10% as manufacturers do perfect scenarios not true conditions for most driving.

Landrover are Marmite .. remember that.

Clutch seems fine, no noise at all from the rear diff. Pull really well. Quiet engine (for a 2.2) So, we pick it up on Friday. 3mths warranty, so chance to give her a good run with piece of mind.
