hi hope the picture shows what im trying to explain well here goes where the oil way is near the crank there is a hole that seems to go in as far as the sump it says there should be a rubber bung to block the hole is this right or can i seal it off ?

do you have a gasket to go between the flywheel housing and block?
I think i had exactly the same problem after putting a 200tdi into my 90.
Did you use the old N/a flywheel (if it was an n/a originally) as i found that there was a square lug type thing at the bottom which was causing the flywheel housing to not go flush with the block when doing it up. Also wack some sealant aroundthe area of the crankshaft on the block.

I ground off the square bit, changed my crank seal and so far it isnt leaking!

hi cheers for the advice i have a new gasket and a new crank oil seal after a lot of phone calls to various engineers ive found out there has to be a perfect seal between backplate a the end of the crank must have a mirror finish for the seal to work as for the rubber bung no one has ever heard of it so i will put it together a pray for the best cheers

no worries. make sure you dont damage the seal when putting it in. Mine had a installation sleeve for protecting it when putting it wrong. was only after i put it on that i realised how it goes on properly. I believe that to do it with the plastic bit you need to put it in the flywheel first then put it over the crankshaft as i did the seal last and it was a right pain

hi ive been advised to treat it like it was open heart surgery making sure every thing is spotless ill pray i dont damage the seal the kicker is not being able to test it untill its all put back together cheers
