hiya,

just got a second hand external sun visor, and was wondering, before
i actualy go out in the cold.
is there a pdf doc or anything out there on the web that shows the
correct fitting, or does anyone here know,

does the long edge fit under the roof to screen bit, or does it go
over it.

TIA

Andy

If you mean does it go underneath the lip of the roof at the top of
the windscreen, I think it does. My optional parts catalogue is very
unhelpfull, it just shows the visor and 4 self-tappers to screw it
onto the windscreen pillars.

Where you going to use it ? UK? You'll just be adding leaks for no benefit.

i just think they make them look cool (er)

i suppose you mean by forcing rain upwards towards the roof/screen top
seal. i can see your point,

maybe if i put some slicone sealant there it would help.

just one last question, are the visors coloured to match the roof or
the body?

My mates landy has a sun visor on. they do look pretty good (and
work). Attract spiders though :)

His is fixed straight onto the top of the screen. I think it has some
silicone under/round it. Rubber roof seal strip then goes on top of
the visor.
It doesnt have any more leaks than a landy usually has, but it does
make removing the rag top a bit tricky (you have to lever all the
fingers up to get the rag past them)

His is shiney ally coloured, but i dont know if that is due to
lazyness by whoever fitted it in the past or if it came on the truck
and looked like that when new?

Personally I can't stand them. Mind you, I'm 6ft and I'm constantly
looking through the top bit of the screen where the wipers don't wipe
anyway, a visor would mean I'd have to lie down on the passenger seat
to see traffic lights.

Try windscreen sealant, it's better, but a bastard to remove
afterwards

Usually roof colour, I think

No!! I always thought it would knock a couple of mpgs off, and create a
bitof a turbulent airflow. The LR it was fitted to had an exceptionally good
top rail to the bulkhead - the sunvisor prevents the water from the roof
getting down inside the doorpillars/ under the bottom seal... bout the only
plus point.

6ft 3ish here. I made extended wiper arms for my 101 to get round this
problem. Its great now as i can actually see when it rains! Now if
only the wipers went fast enough to clear heavy rain off!...
I chopped the 101 arm, then sacrificed an old car arm and welded a bit
into the gap.
