series 3 sub axle removal

Hi All, it's my first post and I need help (not what I would have wanted). As a Land Rover virgin I might just be being dim, but I can't see how to remove the stub axle on my series 3 (I want to replace swivel ball, etc). Took the AVM FW hub cover off (6 screws) and exposed castle nut. Removed spring pin, but nut and stub axle turn together, so I can't undo the nut? Tried putting it in 4x4/in gear, but still turns. Haynes manual no help. Must be a simple solution, but it is not apparent to me. Can anyone help a numpty out?

Numpty here. Just worked it out. Put road wheel back on and made a key to lock spline to FWH housing, duh.

That's why series landys have flat wing tops.........so you've got somewhere to rest your pot of tea when your scratching your head wondering what the hell to do
