Hi everyone,

I’m having issues with getting my speedo cable to work. The one on the car when I got it was snapped so I replaced this with a Britpart one. I refitted this multiple times as it would disconnect from the gearbox/speedo after about 10 yards. I’ve given up with the Britpart cable and got a Bearmach cable.
I thought I got this connected but it didn’t work. I opened the dash again and the cable wasn’t even near the speedo. Turns out the Bearmach cable isn’t clipping in and can just be pulled off? Any tips for getting it to clip in or have I got yet another bad cable?

Why was the britpart one coming out? Are the britpart and bearmach clips the same? Can you use the clip off the britpart one on the bearmach one. If one is not right send it back.

The Britpart cable inner part appeared to be too short. You’d drive a bit and then it comes out of one of the ends. The cables have different clip designs so I can’t swap the clip over.

Send them both back, or ring the supplier and tell them the problem, the britpart one sounds badly made, the bearmach one might be for a Series 2 which I think had a different fitting to the speedo.

How have you fitted it should come out from gearbox then back over gearbox bell housing clipped tp the D plate of gear lever mounting. If you buy a LH drive one it is physically longer and gives more option on where you locate it.

I got this worked well

Thanks for the advice everyone. Dad fitted it while I was out. He took it off the gearbox and and lined it up to the speedo better. The inner was trying to go into the speedo head at an angle stopping the connector going on all the way.
