HI all,

Ive recently got me a 109 with a defender dash and 200tdi. It appears to have a S3 heater i think?!

Anyhow, it doesnt work and the trip back from Birmingham was frosty.

Im guessing first port of call is the fuses? I have an S3 fusebox i think? you can see it in the picture(not my picture but taken from another post) Cant really identify which fuse is for the heater?

If its not the heater, then what is the next thing to do? Can anyone provide a process of elimination?

Also the heater control lever is a bit dodgy, i guess that would be the second place to look after the fuse? The second pic is of a dash that is the same as mine, i believe this is a defender dash.

Thanks again,

Hi all sorry if there is some confusion this is my dash that was a photo off the Internet of a dash. I've also got a pic of my heater. I was hoping for some guidance to problem solve the heater not working at all. cheers

The controls are prone to seizing up.

Water flow can be stopped by airlocks, or silt and corrosion in the system.

Airflow is often blocked by debris or foam inside the airbox.

Worth checking all of them on an old one. Is there a tap under the bonnet that turns off flow to the heater??

I don't think that is a series heater btw. looks like a defender one

does the blower work and you are not getting any heat?

see if the pipes in and out of the heater matrix are hot, if not there probably is a blockage.

when I sorted mine out the blower wasn't wired in properly which was one problem but also the valve which controlled the amount of hot water getting into the matrix - and therefore the heat into the cab - was blocked up so I fitted a new valve. follow the wire from the hot and cold control to find the valve. on a series 3 its near the thermostat housing at the front of the engine.
