Not that I've got my engine back together yet... but for when I do! My 2A
has got a S3 bulkhead from a donor landrover and I'm having some problems
with the heater... no air comes out of the vents! Yes, the fan does work and
IS plumed into the heater, but nothing! The control lever is free but what
ever its position, no air comes out anywhere.
With out removing the hole dashboard to work out how the heater flaps work
ect , what's my best line of attack to at least get some air to the
demister? Are there pipes concealed behind the dash shelf? I hope this isn't
a case of "Oh, they all do that sir..."
Thanks! Toby

On JLO the pipes to the demisters had come adrift... great for demisting the
speedo though.

Make friends with someone with little hands and multi jointed long arms....
Failing that grease up the back of your hands and get ready to shread some
skin.

Passenger side aint to bad... the driver side is another story. Not quite as
bad as walking home naked in a blizard though. .... whoops wrong group.

TVS vaguely muttered something like ...

Start at the fan and work forwards ... slowly .. and yes, there's a ****
load of stuff behind the dash that needs to be played with to work the
heater vents.

The heater controls are simple cables and it may be that one of these has
come adrift or seized (swot happened on mine) and they are a bugger to
replace. If one does need replacing, tape the new one to the old one, end
to end, and try to pull the new one through when you pull the old one out.
I found that cycle gear cable inners worked really well when I replaced an
inner, as they are a tad smaller diameter, YMMV ... ;)
