my 109 lwb landy gear change problem,
been stood for around 14 months until i got it:D.. if i put in reverse then pull it out i struggle to select forward gears but if i flick it out then i have no problem,,,,is they a knack to changing gears or if i remove the gear lever and regrease etc as theys a lot of crud about...what do you suggest please

Think they're all a bit quirky. Mine won't go into 1st unless I put it into 2nd first. It's off the road now but going to have a prod about in there before putting it all back together. That's no help to you I know.

will repaint it first before my friend who is a mechanic looks at it...service and tune up etc...just trying to do little jobs first whilst i am doing nothing...will it hurt it if i remove the gear lever and clean and regrease etc

You might well find that a bit of regular use and an oil change will improve things no end. Get yerself a manual before you start pulling it to bits so you have some idea of what you're looking at.

agreed......i am in the motor trade so help is always at hand...just been thinking i might check the locating screw in the housing , it changes ok if i flick it out of reverse but if use a bit of force it will not engage....like the lever is twisting etc.
my first landy and i am restoring it in a fashion

i had the same with my 109 been stood up for 14 years i think the little springs in the top of the box stick by shaking the stick from side to side you could hear them pop out now with fresh oil and a bit of use they are getting much better sticks now and again but with a little sideways tap of the stick its back again good luck

Replace quirky with junky. Sounds like a couple are describing worn gear boxes. No big deal if you can live with it. But if it starts vibrating, stop driving and repair before you wallow out your case or ruin your shafts.
