hello silly question how do i go about up grading to full disc brakes all round ? ...what is involved ..is it s symple bolt on kit or is it a axle swop.? ...any info much apreciated ...cheers benny

Whats yer current set up? Pre-1981 88's had 10" drums with single leading shoe, if you got that then you could upgrade to the 11" Twin leading shoe arrangement used on 109's and late 88's, this'll give you a slight improvement, more so if you put a servo in, which is easy if you got a petrol engine.

Otherwise, like Jmattley says you probably best off going for a defender, then u get other "luxuries" like power steering, coil springs and 5 gears:D

ok boys cheers for the replys ..ive got a mid 81 car fitted with a servo so i would think ive got the bigger brake set up .... but im goona look into doing the job myself on the cheap ...(not bodged just cheap) ...

hahahah servo in series = ****. just give the pedal a big shove with your foot! put new shoes and pads in and adjust the correctly should make them ok, always will be a tad vague its an old landy....

If you are tempted fit discs on the cheap by swapping to coiler axles, the man to talk to is 'TheSmiths88'. He's fitted a discovery front axle onto a 2A. It sounds like quite a difficult job to me as the track rod goes behind the axle and under the diff; The consequence of this is that the leaf springs get in the way of the track rod. I think he's got round the problem by using 1 ton shackles and spacers between the axle and the spring, so that the axle is at the original height but the springs are lower down.

iv got a late s3 with twin cylinders on and i think mine are very good compaired to my mates early s3 with single ones on mines also got a servo on but dont think its makes the slightest big of difference

Perhaps the diaphram in the servo is broken or some of the pipework.
