Hello,
This is my first venture into Landyzone. Can anyone tell me the time it would take to change the Steering box and front hub assembly on my TD5 Disco.
It failed the MOT recently on these two. Its annoying that you have to buy a hub assembly just because the bearing is running a bit rough. This would help me to price the job at my local garages.

Many Thanks

Not difficult to tackle hubs yourself, but the hub nut is done up to some rediculous torque setting.... get a scaff bar, a quality socket and some heavy boots!

Rave says ....

10. With assistance, fit new drive shaft nut and
tighten to 490 Nm (360 lbf.ft). Stake drive shaft
nut. The drive shaft nut must be fitted and
tightened immediately after wheel hub is
assembled to drive shaft, and before Loctite
has cured.

Tight .... but definitely still strippable!

Last night I was on Island 4x4 's site and noticed they had front hubs for 150 odd quid. That is a good price as I've seen em at well over £200. They do free delivery as well.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback....Yes I did see the hubs at Island 4x4 and I bought one. It arrived the very next day, superb service.

Forgot to add, my local specialist wanted £270 for the Hub..Now I know why he drives a Ferrari as well as a Range Rover sport
