Going for a big trip from Perth to Ayers Rock in the new year and want to fit a second battery to my TD5. I would prefer to mount it under the bonnet but it looks very tight for a 100Ah battery. Has anyone out there fiitted one and what components if any have to be moved?

is there a reason you need a second battery?? caravan? winch?

i did melbourne to perth via a **** load of places including Inaminka, Silverton, Wiliams Creek, and **** nose where else, ave forgotten but it took me 6 months doing about 150k's a day. all this in a Holden HB panel van with fooked back supension . i did how ever put a new battery in before i set off. the only battery related trouble i has was bull dust getting into the alternator.

so if yer dunt really need one don't bother as its just more stuff to go wrong. Take more VB instead

and if yer haven't already got one get a flying doctor radio or a VHF set

ah furgot about sat phones . i had a 12v fridge in me van fer me VB it coped ok.. if thats all it for i'd take along one of them starter packs, you know the type with fag lighter output and cables fer jump starting. you can leave it plugged in . then you can unplug it and take yer engel along with you when yer on walkabout. that way yer VB stay cold even when getting chased by irrate crocs.

it also handy for helping those ****s you'll come across that are ill prepared for the outback
