Hi all,
Just some handy info regarding seatbelts..

Had a call from the Road Safety Authority over here in Ireland regarding the legality of seatbelts in vehicles.
Over here..all pre 1992 vehicles without seatbelts fitted are legal to drive without and legal to carry passengers without seatbelts. Seatbelts have to be used if they are fitted or camr standard with the vehicle.

Regarding the fitting of seatbelts by yourself/mechanic after 1992 means they have to be used but must also be tested for safety, not sure how this is done yet but will get the info today. It will probably be tested through the NCT/MOT.

I would be interested to see how you get on Brian.

Looking to fit forward facing seats in the rear of my 1969 IIa lightweight, but want to know what belts I need and how best to fit them.

Currently have 3 point static belts up front, not sure what the military had when it was in use, if any at all.
