Sealing my airbox

Can anyone help me to seal my air box. I have a 300tdi defender and some time ago i removed the airbox and sealed all the joins in the airbox with RTV silicon ready for wading. However i have found the joint in the picture (intake from wing to airbox) isnt air tight.

Has anyone got any ideas or materials i can use to seal this join. As i say, ive tried to seal inside, allthough it is awkward.

Mite sound daft but how about smearing some silicone sealer over the joints should be water tight once its dried / cured

Thanks mate. I did actually do that originally with RTV silicon on the outside. But it didnt seem to work. Maybe some better silicon might help.

Yeah i did this on my series truck but it was still a 2.1/4 petrol then not sure if a tdi will suck more air or not
