Hi All,
I have a 2008 TDV8 that has started having some problems with the Sat-Nav and the centre consol screen. I first noticed a problem when the Sat-Nav user settings seem to have returned to factory default. The country was Belgium, maps had returned to 2D rather then 3D, voice guidance was enabled and arrival time was displayed in total minutes rather than arrival time.

Every time I use the car I have to change these settings. The next array of issues vary after I have made a stop or two (removed key from ignition). Sometimes, the Sat-Nav screen freezes completely and is unresponsive to any input. I can still use other screens (such as 4x4 and audio) but when I go back to the Sat-Nav screen, it is still unresponsive.

The other issue I sometimes see is following a couple of stops, the screen displays snow on every screen (4x4, audio etc). Turning off the ignition and back again shows snow again and it only ever really seems to go back to normal the following day when the car has been idle overnight. I have left the car locked for 30 mins and re-checked. Sometimes the screen is displaying normal but the Sat-Nav is still unresponsive and others, I still see the snow.

It's just come back from a dealership where they have "updated the Sat-Nav screen and entertainment module" and they didn't see the problem. However, I saw the snow display after I input all of my personal preferences on the Sat-Nav and removed the key for approx 3 minutes.

Has anyone seen this kind of issue before?

I can't speak for your model of vehicle.
But I have just updated the Sat Nav disc on my Disco 3 and one of the strange things is that it defaulted to Belgium on boot up.
That said when I changed the default to the UK everything works as it should.
I would be going back to the dealer and making sure they have flashed the ECU with the correct version of the firmware.
Unless you have a diagnostic and you could do it yourself.
Looks like a software issue to me.
