Just wondered if ur clutch could be slipping, but I'm sure u'd notice that wouldn't u? I would start with another tacho - just wire it in temporary. Do u have no idea wot sort of rpm the engine is doing? I would trust my ear before a tacho. Anyway, got one if u want but would like it back sometime.

hi, thanks for the offer! the clutch is not slipping and the engine does not scream its nuts off when revs are showing 4500-5000 so can safely say rev counter is faulty. i will buy some clocks off ebay this week.doesnt affect running but just one of them annoying things so once again thanks for offering the loan of the rev counter and i will have a look at it tomorrow. cheers!

Has to be Tacho/Alt or connection forget the pulley size issue, if the revs are right for idle and 50 mph then all of a sudden the revs do not match up with road speed the pulley has not altered size.

regards

Dave
