i haven't been on this site for years, I rebuilt a series 3 a few years ago which I enjoyed, but didn't keep it for long afterwards, I've been looking at defender 2.5 200 tdi 1992 and it's the age old question, are these usable day to day, I would be using it most days but not long journeys. I realise they are not luxurious but the series 3 was very agricultural !
Any thoughts would be helpful
Cheers !!

Just drove back 25 miles from work in my 1984 110 (converted to 200tdi), went to town on Saturday picked up a new tumble dryer. Daily drive no problem, well one small problem, I can't get in the multistory car parks.
I have used it for longer journeys, all you need is a disco transfer box and as much sound insulation as you can get.
With the transfer box I now get 32 mpg.
As he said go for it!!

Nothing wrong with a Defender as an everyday car, and it's fine for long trips too. Mine's a TD5 which is a bit different but a lot of the car is very similar aside from the arguably smoother engine. I did this the other day https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/long-days-journey-into-night.289535/ and the only sign of discomfort was that the sole of my right foot was getting a bit numb from pressing on the accelerator on the long trip home.
