Restoring Galv Cappings

Can anything be done to restore these cappings whilst in situ? Or do they need to be replaced?

Zg-90, after scrubbing with some cif.

Steelwool them then a spray of zinc cold galve (wurth) then a spray of matt varnish...

I use errr. Nowt. If it ever holes I’ll errr, prolly do more nowt.

And it you want to do more than nowt maybe a quick wipe over with some light oil every so often. Trying to restore or paint with galv spray will make it not match and doing all of it looks silly IMO. I have similar on some of my tailgate parts but it doesnt get any worse and is far more in keeping to leave it alone than the silver paint look that trying to restore it gives.

Good galv paint is dull grey. Or get jotamastic 90, which goes chalky grey in sunlight.
