right so heres a wee one
when i bought my 99 D2 it had already had the ace pump stripped out but everything else left in place. now im pretty sure somethings been leaking and the only thing that it could be is the ace system. (the PO has filled the resevoir with clear oil)
so the pump is still running but only on a bearing. i wish to drain the system as much as i can and change the belt so that it no longer turns the pump.
i relise that you can get the different belt and know what one i need.

but is there anything else i would need to purchase i.e ... a tensioner

hope that makes scence
cheers

the pump is replaced with an Idler pulley on NON ACE models.....

You say the pump was stripped out, yet you then say its running ?

Out of interest, did the previous owner replace the Anti roll bars to as a car without ACE has standard anti roll bars fitted and to do a proper job and retain the vehicle handling they should be replace (if not already) as the ACE actuators will NOT provide any "anti-roll" if the system is not running completely.

as far as im aware the PO removed all the internals of the pump but left the pump in place running only on a bearing. so it looks as if its just being used as an iddler, the reservior is filled with clear oil i assume to lube the bearing.

as it happens the car is leaking fluid from somewhere and its clear?
icant see anything other than the brakes that use clear fluid and im almost certain it isnt them. it seems to be leaking around the bottom of the radioator but is definatly oil thats leaking the oil is sitting on the steering box (a recon one was fitted) ive removed the lower covers and found nothing thats leaking buts its coming from somewhere in that area.

as for the antiroll bars
im sure they are the original but the car i would say is quite good on corners and isnt sloppy (its miles better than the 300tdi i had)

To do the job properly, you need new (non-ACE) bars, removal of old ACE stuff, new aux drive belt and idler pulley, and reprogramming the "brain".

I can take a photo of my idler if you want - may even have a part number on the invoice...
