Hi all
I decided this weekend to look at the body work
Mainly the seat box and the rear tub

I purchased a later (2006) rear tub at the end of last year.
The was to remove the side panels as they have been riveted on and it looked poor.

so after an hour or so the sides were removed :D

The issue I have now it that there are a few areas that have started to oxidize

So would I better to get it all cut out and welded or can it be treated and filled?

It doesn't look too bad to me. Mine was a hell of a lot worse. I bought the YRM repair panels. Not cheap, but they are quality parts. The panel that bolts to the chassis is looking too corroded and I would go for the galvanised panel to go over it. Other bits, like the top hats, look Ok. Lots of rubbing down, get rid of oxide, etch prime, paint, Dinitrol. I'm confused as to why you are removing the wing panels:confused:

I filled all of the corrosion on mine with aluminium filler. Even the bits where there wasn't actually any metal left

Seems to have been fine so far, and the dinitrol ali filler is really really strong stuff.

Being a td5 tub I think he's swapping them over to the tdi one so he's got the fuel filler in front of the wheel as it should be on his 90.
Or I might be wrong, maybe I imagined him telling me that

Its an OCD thing ask Gatso he has it too ha aha

Well the repair panels from YRM arrived today for the rear tub
along with replacement side panels for the seat box
and I have to say, hats off to them, the parts are top quality

Nice job for the long weekend

Good decision. They'll make a very strong repair. There are sequential photos and step by step fitting instructions on the YRM website.
