Hi when I opened the tailgate of my 5door freelander td4 2004..the tailgate window opened by its self and went right down. I tried to put it up using the switch located beside the handbrake, but every time I did this the window went up, but when it hit the closed position it went down to the bottom again.i have taken the back panel off and the mechanism seems to be ok. I noticed last week that prior to this happening there was a bleeping sound when I opened the drivers door that I hadnt heard before. .any ideas folks would be much appreciated. Jim

Drivers door bleep could be a flat battery in the fob. The alarm light will flash on the dash at the same time as the bleep if this is the case.

Tailgate... try recalibrating it. Disconnect battery, reconnect battery and the window will drop if it's not already down. Then press the up button to put it back up to the top. If it's a 3 door then there's a roof fitted position sensor which will cause the rear window to drop if it thinks the roof int fitted.
