Hi all, this is a pretty novice question but would it be alright to remove the rear seat belt bars in the back of my defender and then bolt them back in after installing a rubber mat over the rear internal wheel arches. So the mat will sit between the bar and the arch. I have removed the seats which will bolt back over the mat as well. Would this cause any issues? Thanks bm

I wouldn't personally, Id cut the mat round them, otherwise there isnt a solid join between the bar and the body where it bolts together, the joint would be able to flex and cause fatigue in the bolts.
Im not sure I would with the seats either perosnally, but they arnt load bearing in an accident, so should be ok.

Thanks for the responses guys. I will cut the mat around them. The seats on the other hand look like they were bolted on through the old carpet so will do the same with the mat as I think it will be a tough job to cut around the seat rails and fixings :)

Cheers
BM
