Good Afternoon, Can anyone help with the following! My td4 is currently off the road with a starting problem(but that's a different story) I thought I would take the opportunity to check over it, to my horror I found oil around my rear diff especially the drive shafts areas. I have rang the parts dept at the nearest LR dealer who may I say are about as much use as a chocolate Tea pot. They say that you cannot buy any seals for the rear diff! Then the second time they said they may do ??????. Has anyone had a leaking diff if so is it easy enough to sort?

Yes there is an oil seal, never done one myself but bet there a few on hear that have, if ya wait they will help ya, best oh luck. . .:)

Anyone got any ideas on this? I was hoping to try and get hold of the seals at the weekend but don't know what/How many to get or even where from, as I say the LR dealers seem like numpties! Also there is still the question of how hard of a job it is!

what seal is leaking? they normally leak from the pinion oil seal, easy job.....

undo 4 bolts and drop the prop down, undo the big nut on the flange and pull the flange off, prise the seal out, tap the new seal in so it is level with the diff casing, put the flange back on and tighten it so the flange pushes the seal in, refit the prop, top up the oil

hi there having the same problem replaced the seal and flange still dripping oil
after cleaning the diff up the oil is running down from top of the diff on to diff seal any ideas where it seaping from
cheers ster
