Does anyone know how much oil the rear diff takes?

I changed the diffs on mine for range rover diffs however the rear diff hasnt got a filler plug, I filled it up temporarily with the same amount that went in the front axle through the breather but ive now got oil in the rear brakes so theres either too much oil or the hub seals are gone which im going to change but I'm too skint (for now!) to get a filler plug put in!

Thanks in advance!

Acc. to my Series 3 manual it should take 3 pints or 1.75 litres, front or rear .. However, as you've changed the spec slightly, that's a start point and you might need to add or remove some .. ;)

That's brilliant, I guess I'll just add that much when I do the hub seals and see what happens, it was a bit hit and miss when I re-filled it anyway so i probably put too much in.

Do you think the different diffs will have that much affect on the amount of oil? It's a pain it can't really be measured through the breather.

Thanks for the info though!

Nah ... if the oil level changes 'cos of the size of the crown wheel by more than a teaspoon I'll drink it!! I said it tongue-in-cheek like ...

;)
