Hi All, i have a quick question regarding this...
i've bought a simple two hole attaching towing jaw. i got some M16 bolts to go with it and the plan is to screw it to my rear crossmember by the two threaded holes at the lower side of the centre of the crossmember.

Now i know that i CANNOT use this for towing, but that is not the reason for attaching it- its mainly to use it as a recovery point, and to pull cars free that get stuck on the grass (mud this time of year) at work.

Suitable? or a bad idea?
All advice gratefully received and will be acted up on!
Cheers in advance.....

Depends how rotten your crossmember is. At best you'll bend it out of shape, at worst you'll destroy the crossmember and maybe kill a passer by with a flying chunk of metal on the end of the rope.
