HELP-----you are not going to believe this but it is true and I would be very grateful for a solution!
Friday morning early We set off on holiday with 28ft of caravan behind my 1997 V8i 3.9 Disco 1.
Problem is today I noticed the brake lights did not work . So I checked the fuse--fine .----Ok check the bulbs--they look fine but I changed them anyway --check the switch on the brake pedal--supply is fine and ,surprise, surprise output is fine ,lighting up my tester light with every press of the pedal. So down to the back of the car with the trusty tester and it lights with every press of the pedal when inserted into the connector on the light cluster. Same result both sides. The side and indicators on both sides work fine.I have abraded the connectors on the bulb holders with no result .All bulb holders will work in all the lights apart from the brake light .If you use the tester on the bulb holder connectors on the body of the light clusters ,only then do you get no supply. The light clusters are a unit and do not open up. All visible running metal connectors are not cracked ,but the inside of the male connectors on the terminal are ,obviously ,inaccessible.
To get away on holiday ,I shall wire the red LED daytime running lights to the brake light circuit and that will keep me legal---but what is going on! It looks as though a metal connector run in the body of the light cluster has cracked----but on both sides at the same time----that is just crazy! Any ideas out there PLEASE
