Rear bench frames. I think.

Afternoon all.

I've just picked up my brand-new, 18 year old, 300 Tdi 110SW to replace my stolen ex-mod 110V8. It's quite different to what I'm used to - it even has carpet. Feels all wrong.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to finding all the things that don't work (courtesy lights! It has courtesy lights! Obviously they don't work) so there will be a few daft questions from this corner, not least of all because 15 years of running a V8 has left me utterly unfamiliar with diesel. The first up is this though...

Are these just the frames to the old benches, and if so can I pull them out or do they have any rigidity functions? And if I pull them out, what's the best way to fill the holes?

Thanks!

they are the seatbelt anchors mate. You could remove them if you wanted - sell them on ebay as they do fetch money

Underneath, there'll be a bracket linking the seatbelt frame to the rear crossmember. They could be worth something too as they're hard to obtain and new ones (where you can get them) are well over £100 each.

Really, those black tubular bits? Cheers chaps, I just thought they were the things the seats sat on, I'll get those out and onto fleabay! Thanks!

Just spent the last hour taking the door apart to get the window back up... Already missing sliding windows!

Or, you could put seats back in it! What are you using it for? How long are you keeping it? It will be worth more as a complete station wagon.

It didn't come with the seats and I don't want them anyway! For a start the missus can't drive it if it has more than 8 seats, but I need the space in the back as a load carrier. I kept the last one for 17 years and I'd still have it if it hadn't been nicked so I'm not looking for resell value!
