Whip it off and take it to a local friendly backstreet engineer.

As an emergency get you out of trouble measure , stick a self tapper in it
with a smidge of araldite if it needs to go somewhere. Pack the AA/RAC card
just in case.

Thats how i started!. And now i have 8!. All saabs and landrovers, so
watch out Mark!
