Hi guys, thanks for all your help so far with my rangie that ive been putting a new engine in, its the first land rover product ive worked on, bit of a change from working on clios mainly. by tomorrow i should be at the fluid replacement stage and i was just looking for recommendations on.

Coolant (what grade/brand is recommended and what % concentration and capacity from totally dry?)
Oil (its a 2.5 BMW lump) what grade/Syn/Semi Syn what is the capacity?)

My gearbox (manual) cooler has also been drained, what sort of oil does it need and do i need to bleed to cooler or anything? where can i drop the lot as im going to do a full change on the gearbox, and where is the filler hole? and again what is the capacity?

im not planning on spending a silly amount as particularly with the engine oil im planning on changing it after a week or so as i don't know the history of the engine so will be good to give it a flush i feel.

Good quality anti freeze, Bluecol or similar use 50/50 mix with soft water, a gallon (4.5 litres) will do.

Engine oil capacity 9.5lts of 10/30 or 10/40 to ACEA B3-96 spec.

Gearbox capacity 2.7lts. Texaco MTF 94 or equivalent.

No need to bleed the oil cooler.
Oil filler/level plug and drain plug are on the side of the gearbox main body.

i would hate to disagree with some above but land rover suggest the following . oil in engineacea a3 or acea b3 5w30 for between-35 +30 5w40 5w50 between -35 +5510w30 between -20 +3010w40 10w50 between -20 +55 gearbox auto aft dextrion 111 manual ft94 antifreeze use any containing the following methyl tertiary butyl ether mtbe to 15%
ethyl tertiary butyl ether etbe to 15% ethanol( ethanol ethyl or grain achohol) to5% methanol with co solvents to 3% basicly this means that antifreeze is cooled red as you can get blue green yellow and red that all are different in make up
