Hi folks.

I have an 02 (new shape) Range Rover HSE.

I bought it for £10,000 about eight months ago, and have already forked out over £2000 in repairs.

I have now been told that I need a new water pump, and potentially (in the near future, maybe up to a year) need a new tranmission. The likely costs for these seem be £500 and £2000 respectivley.

It has about 125k miles on it.

I have been offered £5000 as a trade in by VW, on a new car.

I am going to have to get the water pump done, as it wont drive, but I am looking for your thoughts as to whether to take the trade in, or to keep it, in the hope (perhaps vain) that I can get all the bits sorted on it.

I love the car, and would hate to take a £7000 knock on it already......but at the same time, I dont have an endless supply of cash on it.

get a VW!!! Don't listen to their first offer of a trade in either, and go for one a year old. Better still, get a defender (a proper landy) where things still go wrong but you can fix them with a big hammer. You should be able to double the cash-to-change value the dealer offers you by negotiating, and if you can't, change dealer. Research well, go in fore-armed!

Have thought about trading it in at a stealership for a freelander 2, they're still comfy and well equipt.
