range rover 6 please

just bought another p384.6 for my collection so that's 6 now I may have 6 times as many problems now but at least I have 6 times as many parts to try and fix one with lol

now yer see .... theres a man with vision ...... and a huge parking space.

2 are the thor engines 4 are the gems engine
the thor engines are perfect and have not had any issues or repairs
2 of the gems are also fine engine wise and have no history of repairs
However two have cooling problems and head gasket issues both of these have had major engine work in the past consisting of top hat liners
I have only has time to investigate one of them so far, head gasket has blown big style it has blown the fire ring of the gasket out into to plectrum valley,this is on cylinder 3 which has had a top hat liner installed which has moved and is now 2 thou out of flush with the block
The other one has pressurised cooling system and has had a 5 k engine job in the past with top hat liners yet to investigate this one
seems from the range rovers I have bought that top hat linering is not the cure for an engine that has had problems with over heating and OE liner movement / block cracking

I shall be investigating the use of the fire ring block wiring that we used to use on the ford cosworth yb engines, these were 1998 cc and we ran them in touring cars at 550 bhp and 490lb/ft of torque so the cylinder pressures were immense
