Hi,

My friend has just changed the radiator in my L322. It seems to have lost power and pick up is very slow and not quick off the mark as usual?

Anything to check, Im starting to worry!

Many Thanks

Ok, now I have serious problems.

I drove the car yesterday and this morning covered over 200 miles, the power was back and everything running as it should. Parked the car, left it for 20 mins, come back started to drive up the road.

2mins later loads and I mean loads of white smoke pouring out of exhaust!

I pulled over, left for 30 mins started engine, same thing, it fills the street with white smoke.

Not once did the temp guage rise to red area, always in the middle?

I really need some help with this, have I fried the engine?

hi, not many peeps on here at the moment, welcome by the way,

right down to the job in hand

does it do the same thing running on petrol?
what does the smoke smell of?
is it running rough?
is it using water or oil?

It still starts and turns over but as soon as you turn key, loads of thick white smoke pours from exhaust. I can't explain how much smoke, I've never seen anyhting like it. Radiator was changed due to leak in radiator and loosing coolant from rad.

If it is what you say can you estimate repair?

Silly money I bet!

Hi Ross, check your inter cooler pipe work, (I've seen this before twice once on a Ford 'D' Series lorry, (now that shows how old I am.. )... and the other time on a 40 ton forklift), sometimes the inside wall of the flexible pipes can separate from the stiffening webbing, acting as a flap valve, this can cause havoc with fuel/air mix systems. Also there's a possibility that an oil seal in the turbo has blown and is allowing oil into the exhaust although being as the engine run OK for a while (200 mls) this is less likely. The above are just a couple of things to look for, if the vehicle was OK before the rad change, I'd start checking that area first.

PS. Check all the fuel system sensor wiring/plugs for loose connection or broken wires
