In a year or so, my car will reach 30 years old! meaning (over here) that it will become a ''voiture de collection'', meaning that i have an MOT every 5 years. I'm planning a conversion to 300tdi, and i allready have confirmed these plans, i'm getting the 300tdi on saturday, i think. When i do get to 30 years, that is when i'm going to fit the 300. Now, Gearboxes. Is there any change in dimensions from lt77 to r380, will i have to replace the tunneling?
Also, i feel the 300tdi will be a bit much, looking at speeds i can expect out of my g/box t/box combo. So, what are the differences in ratios on the gearboxes? and also, what are the differences in ratios on the transfer boxes? I have been told that 90 and disco axle ratios are the same, but is this true? Basically, what are the main components that alter speeds between the disco/defender?
