Hello,

A mate wants to buy a Disco, he has seen a 3 door R reg disco 300tdi for 2800, so I guess its a mkII? He wants to know what to look out for, any trates or spots that are prode to rust? etc etc

He has been told that the 3 door is better for than the 5 door for rust and a 3 door 300tdi is s sure bet?

He's going for a disco not a defender as it will be a family ish car as well as an off road toy. Its already got BFG MT 265/85's on it.

Is he being told porkies, should he keep his cash?

(I have a defender and to be honest Disco's are not my speciality, hense the post?)

Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks

-Dan

:drum: if it's going tobe a family car as well i would go for a 5 door as if you want to sell at some point it's more desirable and replacement parts are more common for a 5 door but i maybe biased as i hate 3 door cars. it does sound as if he has been told some bull as 3 or 5 door is down to your preference

:boink:

There was a 98(S) 3 door in torquay last week, £1500. Very nice shiny red one, just like pats van! I was tempted but hanging on for a 5 door. Had a 3 door some years ago and it was ok. Kids make it a pain with a 3 door as it appears the doors are not any longer.

One of the rust problem areas on discos is the wheel arches inside the rear door openings. Three doors don't have rear door openings.
