I've just replaced my 1980 Range Rover's starter, however I'm left with the smaller of the two wires that go onto spades, she start's OK, what do I do with the spare wire? Thanks in advance. :)

Don't really know the answer to that one. But many petrol vehicles around that time had two or more ballast resistors fitted in ignition system. When the engine was cranked one was switched off to boost spark for start. Maybe just maybe the wire has something to do with such a set up.

I think the system you describe applies to my vehicle, I can't see why I can't join the wires but need advice first. I'm getting the original starter refurb'd and may swap over again.

Cheers,

Andy. :)
