hello

can anyone tell me if landrover did pvc (fake leather)seats in a 03 reg freelander??? just asking as i've been offered a full set in but its a fair drive to go and in the pic it looks like pvc, as the drivers seat has a little tear and the pvc/leatherette stuff seems to be braeking away and i've only ever seen leather split

cheers

don't think they did, but ready to be corrected. maybe some one thought they could transform their interior by recovering the seats, or maybe it was a special spec for a council vehicle or something.

I assume as summer is coming, you want to recreate the skin graft to the back of the thighs sensation that came with pvc/vinyl seats in the 70's ?

From 2003/4 they did a kind of a rubber/vinyl combo - my 2004 auto has it. It's comfy and looks well, but is starting to crack slightly on the drivers side, mainly due to me getting in ar$e fist (being tall and all).
The main sections have little rubber nubs that are good for stopping you sliding about and the sides and backs appear to be made of some sort of nylon material (a bit like you'd get on a waterproof jacket).
These seats I'd suggest are probably aimed at the sector of the market that expects to get the interior muddy or has pets - as they're very simple to clean and don't stain.
If these are being sold as leather - double check with the supplier - from a distance they can look like leather, but up close you'll realise they're not.
Oh and as for the skin graft sensation - they're not as bad as leather seats, but do get hot in the summer and you may get SBS (Sweaty Back Syndrome).

Cheers
