Pump tuning question ,

Afternoon all , Iv had a fiddle with the pump started off with just smoke screw adjustment made big difference so I went the whole hog once I had the top off I noted that mine had the little dimple in the diaphragm at the 1 o clock position so I assumed that it had already been tweeked As Iv read that there all at the 9 o clock position to start with ? Is this true
Anyhow once I took the diaphragm out for inspection I noted that there is only the one score mark from the pin so indicating that it has always been in this position from new perhaps? I marked all the standard positions first then just turned star wheel half turn and diaphragm to the 2 o clock position so hardly moving it , the smoke screw 1 an half turns and dam she shifts nicely no excessive smoke either infact hardly any to be seen
Anybody else found there's to have the dimple in that position to start with?
It's a 300 tdi xs on a 96

If your like mine had been played with before you got it, sounds like you;ve done a decent job to it,

the nut and screw on mine were all wrong, sounded nice but made its a mobile smoke machine,

Just remember to mark where it was,

Next thing to do for you is blank the EGR and you'll be happy

Hi bud what's thrown me is there is only one score mark on the diaphram pin if it had been messed with previously it would have two?
Iv done the egr, straight thou eggsauce de cat etc runs very well

Yes you should be able to see a second score mark. Every one I've seen has been in the 9 oclock position but I've never read anything to suggest they always are so perhaps yours was in the original position.

No they are not always set at 9 oclock or at least the ones Ive seen haven't been. Theres no reason to think they had been tampered with before.
