Problem with radio controls on the steering wheel

So i just bought a 2000 disco, and the radio controls on the steering wheel have been broken in such a way that continually interfere with the dash board controls for the radio. My question is: is there any way to disable the controls on the steering wheel?

just take them off, 2 torx bolts at the back of the steering wheel to get the air bag off then 2 phillips screws hold the switches on, the only thing though, you'll be left with a hole in the side of the steering wheel.

Why not repair or replace them?

because i dont have the parts on hand to do it. And id like to drive around being able to use my radio without jimmying the steering wheel controls. Eventually i may actually replace them.
