hi guys joe from australia here,
my father has a 1999 2.0 turbo diesel freelander and on his way to visit me interstate the thing started to loose power,
he stopped for lunch and after he started off again the thing wouldnt rev above 1500rpm and blew smoke under load.the max he could get up to on the freeway was 40klm p/h and going up a hill he got as low as 2klm p/h.
from what i can gather the turbo has been effected because i think the turbo cuts in at around 1800rpm to push the engine into higher revs,
and the smoke would be a seal inside the turbo letting oil through.
has anyone had this problem? and if so what fixed it?
i know the turbo is a garrett but what type?
