can someone please help,ive a 110 defender county 1995 and none of the lights will work normally,eithier the side lights or headlamps or the dashboard light,the headlamps work when i flick the full beam swith on but not when ive just used the light switch on its own,i called a garage and the guy told me it was a faulty switch and had to be replaced,however i looked over the switch and it appears to be in good condition ?
please help lights not working !!

Test the switch with a volt meter, will soon tell u whether that theory is right or not.

you cannot realy tell the condition of a switch by ' looking at it' 
as rusty says test it with a multimeter.

or if you haven't got a multimeter, bridge out the contacts on the switch with a wire link, but BE CAREFUL, and make sure you know what terminal does what before you start.

Had a similar problem with my discovery. Remove the steering column shroud and check all the small wires going to the switch, one of mine broke at the soldered joint and didn't conect. It looked fine at first glance though so look carefully, Dab some solder on it when you find it and yer done.
