please HELP disco 2 lost keys HELP

Help I have lost my only key fob for my discovery 2 I have a spare but it doesn't open my doors so I decided to drill out my door lock which worked a treat I was in in less than 30 secs but then I found my spare key is actually a key for a 300tdi which turns out my disco 2 has a 300 tdi igntion barrel fitted is this a common conversion ? Iv also I spoke to a friend that works at a LR main dealer and got my EKA CODE which I have done numerous times to the letter no mistakes but that doesn't seem to work which has left me out of ideas can any body help is it a simple case of getting a new key fob and getting it programmed or am I up Creek with out a paddle.
