Well, now I am baffled. After 30 minutes of driving I get what feels like clutch judder in 1st or reverse (kangarooing!) - fine when accelerating and smooth as for the first 30 minutes. Parked in the dry and only driven in the dry so far - just by chance. Timing was all set up correctly (but will check again). Sparks, HT, coil( bosh this time) and dizzy (Lucas 45d accuspark) all new. Gearbox refurbed (Simmonites) in Feb 22, with new borg beck clutch, delphi slave and all new hydraluic pipes. Perhaps the dwell angle aint right on the dizzy and she aint keeping timing. If it were gbox or engine mounts I would assume this would clunk around all the time, and not just after 30mins of driving. They all look good. Handbrake not hot hot - a little warm when I expected it to be stone cold. Dont think I can wind it in anymore.

Any ideas or input would be very welcome! Its putting me off my evening zydar, as I keep flicking through the haynes book of lies and some oringinal manuals that I have downloaded.

My series 3 is a little hard to control in first gear at low revs, to me it feels more like not enough petrol so I increase the revs slightly and feather the clutch to keep the speed slow. Most noticable in slow moving traffic, is this the same as yours?

Many thanks for all the feedback. Going to take it for a long drive and see if it might just be contamination on the new clutch as I have checked everything that is obvious so far. If i increase the revs its fine, so yes, in slow traffic is worse as I bolt forward and then need to hit the brake! Gonna ride the clutch a little to see if I can get it really hot. Once again, many thanks everyone.

Well a follow up on this - swapped the Chinease zenith for a weber - ALL, and I mean ALL issues cured. She runs swwweeEEEEat! £177 well spent! Thanks for all the comments, its taken 3 months to save up for the weber and within an hour and 11 miles its cured. Just need to resolve the choke cable and I'm done. Cant stop grining. Going to celebrate with a pasty, a guiness and a whisky mac!
